.........to think 99% of these radios from ALL the collectable cars were thrown in the bin for more modern head units ! ...............and now purists are paying MANY hundreds of $ for the survivors "put away" by hoarders, which I have to admit, for better or for worse, also applies to me !
########### Thanks cosworthfreak for posting link to pic of factory radio ; love it! #############
On subject of Radios, I recently inherited my Auntie's 1965 AP5 Push Button Regal Valiant; NEVER had a radio or aerial fitted in its life to this day !
51 years later, and the whole car is still original with nothing replaced on engine except 1 waterpump, 1 PCV Valve and 1 rocker cover gasket ! .....other than service items like plugs n points, etc ! .......such a bullet proof car !
Can't brag enough as to what sheer pleasure it is to drive in town or out in the country ! ....even with no radio !
Pictures show how the car appears to this day............un-painted since 1965 !.........but spent every day & night in a Garage when not on the road ! .......zero rust in frame or weld ons........2 doors and inner guards have a little (easily repaired)
Does anyone have suggestion for a "covert" aerial if I sit a radio & speaker loose inside the glovebox or fit below dash, as I dont want to disturb "blanking" plate where radio is meant to go, unless I can find an "original" at an affordable price. If not, I'm happy enough to enjoy the Val radio-less.
cheers....................Bernie
