New ones are available in the UK all you need to do is provide documented ownership of the car from VicRoads etc making sure the details it is getting sent to matches the registration papers. Google search vin plates uk.

Maybe when you've cleaned it up and shiny. .on reinstalling it/them you can find or buy stainless flat washers , shave them into a 'D' shape so to hide the bad edge when being riveted back on. Or if there's no numbers in the way you can drill a hole slightly further inward so a full washer can be used ..

Pretty sure you cannot remake ID plates in Victoria I couldn't find an Australian company to reverse stamp a production line tag on a mates XC I used the uk site. I think there are legal issues with vin or ID plate remanufacturing and I have never seen blank Australian plate for sale

No - I thought there may be a welder for fine work available. Large rivets will cover the horribleness - these tags are off an rs so am trying to make it a bit spiff

I remember seeing a set of blank Escort tags on Ebay going back a while now. They weren't on there for very long. They were gone too quick to possibly be a sale so guessing they were take off the site. Wish I got the sellers name, could have organised something.

If anyone knows someone who might be able to help with remaking a set of tags let us know. I realise it's illegal but it'll be a secret kept between us.

No - mines a later one - 1973 - I may have to do what JR suggests - its just the Australian ID plate that's a hassle now (which is the later 73 one as well) - its just as cheesy - ive made enquires in India etc - in an effort to get new stamps and pro forma made (would be very labour intensive) but no one appears to be interested in doing a 1 off. Still Ill keep asking. It would be worth it to be able to replicate the buggered ones.

Does the plate look like any of the ones on Aussie Falcon GT's of the period, I have never checked myself. If it did then perhaps a restorer of those may have a solution. Just a thought.

You could try using liquid metal to fill the small hole. It use to be made by selleys and comes in a tube. I did have some a while back, not sure if its still ok..... look on ebay..... it would be perfect for what you want done.

I recommend cutting a matching piece to suit from scrap. Then rivet it down and worry about patching later. Clean the plate before you start and I know it's cause original rivets were so small. My question how to redo not the stamp but how to redo the print of Ford motor company. Your badge looks old though but that's half the attraction.

id leave it as well as is messing with tags might bring more prob then whats its worth..

personly if i was to buy a car and the tags looked messed with i would most probably walk away from it thinking it has been a number job or boggie ..

if i seen original tag not messed with would have me thinking its more genuine than not...
im in the middle of restoring my yellow glow capri there's no way id even consider removing the tags they can paint around it ...
