wtb: mk2 escort rear damper mounts
Anyone wrecking a mk2 shell that they wouldn't mind cutting up? I am in need of the top damper mounts so that I can graft it to my mk1. preferably in Adelaide. pm or email: mk1_gaz@hotmail.com Garry

.... And when you get one cut it thru the middle and widen it so it buts up against the inner tubs ,fill the gap (bout 3-4in) with new steel. Reason is this will get the shocks as near to upright as possible thus the shocks will be more effective. Just thinking loudly! I might have a pic somewhere.. Cheers

I like your thinking there Marty. not sure that it complies with the improved production rules though. 9.4 Suspension dampers: The make and size of suspension dampers are free. The number of dampers and pivot point locations may not be altered.

not sure the easiest way to cut it out, depends what you have access to? my car is on a rollover jig so its easy to get to, but i guess worst case is an angle grinder or reciprocal saw from the boot and then from behind the rear seats.. if you can leave about 20mm of floor around it then that would be easier for me, but see how you go. no footballers here. but i'm sure Aust post will take it. shouldn't be more than $30 from there. what condition is it in and whats it worth?

might take a week or so, is the diagonal bracing the same length in a Mk1 as Mk2, ?? i'll rough it out and cut back to 20mm all round. ... at this stage i'll leave the bracing attached. cheers Geoff

thanks Geoff. timing isnt a problem, its going to take me a few weeks till ill be ready to even think about welding that in. it took me a while to figure out the bracing you were refering too. i assume it is what is in the attached picture running from the damper mount up to the top of the wheel tub? if it is, then the mk1's dont have this. they have a sheet of steel with holes in it instead of a brace. im guessing the brace is just there to support the back of the seats..... an any case, i dont need it. it will be easier for you to post without it.
