Helper Spring Platforms too Long?

I'm about to fit the helper springs to my coilovers.
It seems that the platforms supplied with the helper springs are too long & the helper spring can't fully compress.
To me, that means the weight of the car will be riding on the collars of the plastic helper spring platforms, instead of transferring that load to the upper spring seat, like I imagine they should work if the helpers are fully compressed.
The helper spring is 18mm tall when fully compressed, but the space between the upper spring seat & the helper spring collar is 23mm. So essentially the helper spring platform will be in full contact with the upper spring seat &  I don't believe they're designed to work that way, or am I wrong?

Spring locating flanges are 9mm long (upper, anodised alloy) & 14mm long (lower, plastic)
So you can see the spring can not fully compress, as it's compressed length is 18mm.
In effect, the upper spring seat & helper platform will be in contact like the photo below. . . with the partially compressed helper in between, of course.

Cutting down the helper spring platforms to 7mm or 8mm maximum where the helper spring locates seems like the obvious solution to me. That will allow the helper spring to fully compress & keep the upper seat & helper platform separated by a mm or two, thereby removing the load from the helper spring platform's collar & transferring it to the upper spring seat where it belongs.

I've no experience with coilovers or helper springs, so I don't want to start modifying things if there's a chance I don't understand the principles involved.
It seems like common sense to me, but I'd like to make sure.
The fact that all of these parts came from GRP4 Fabrications, leads me to believe they should fit & work together as is.
That's where my doubts are coming from.
Am I missing something here?
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Cheers, Jason.

Hi Mate, did it all come as a kit? Im inclined to think the same as you but a call to the manafacturer would answer your question.

    Good luck

    Thanks Matt.
It does seem like that's the way to do it. . . as far as I know helper springs should be fully compressed except when the strut is unloaded.
No, it didn't come as a kit.
The struts were bought a couple of years ago, although they're just being fitted, and the helper springs & platforms were bought together recently.
All from GRP4 Fabrications in Ireland though.
The helper springs & platforms are the only types of both that they sell, so I don't think it's a case of buying the wrong parts either. No other options were available.
Guess I'll have to email Torsten at GRP4 to be sure. . . might have an answer by the end of next week.
