MK2 Pedal Position
hey guys,
In the process of having new seat mounts fabricated for my mk2 escort. in order to test the positions of everything, we roughly bolted in the steering column and pedal assembly. Positioning wise I think we have got the new seats in the right spot and was chuffed to 'sit' in my car for the first time. That was until we noticed the full resting position of the pedals. Mainly focusing on the brake pedal here as it is the one pedal that is sprung loaded to sit in its correct position. For me to step on the brakes i am going to have to lift my right leg along way up from what feels natural to get it over and above and over the brake pedal. the pedal seems to be angling up a long way from the vertical position to the point its feels less like pushing the pedal to more stepping on the pedal. Its such a big lift up and over that my leg is clipping the steering wheel and obviously feels very wrong. Wondering if once the pedals are cabled in it will pull the pedal back towards the firewall and therefore reduce the angle and make it more natural. For all the mk2 guys out there, does this seem right? The seat is positioned well in relation to the cars interior and also the steering wheel which makes me think we havent done anything stupidly wrong, just the pedals are throwing us.
