Maiin beams not working

My main beam lights in my MK1 Escort are not working. There is no power to fuse box or bulb plugs but there is power to switch. I have parkers and overtaking lights . Any idea

    Mk1 switches often melt from the heat caused by the electric current going thru it and not going thru a relay . Pull the switch apart and bridge the wires to check that's the source of the problem.
