NSW club rego log book trial

Is anyone participating in this yet? Should make it easier to take your car out.

    Yes I am preparing a car a register on this scheme (currently long term unregistered).
    I like the idea of unrestricted personal use for 60 days per year outside of club use.
    Finally the car will get some use.
    At the moment waiting on a reply email from the RMS as to their exact definition of "day".

    In Tassie we have had a similar system for the last 10 years or so

    In a nutshell it allows 52 days use per year
    Reduced registration cost (under $200 / year for a 6 cylinder), however you must also own another full registered vehicle in your name.
    Car must have a full vehicle inspection (roadworthy) prior to issuing SI (special interest rego plates)
    SI rego not transferable so if vehicle sold it must be re-inspected.
    Vehicle must be in good to excellent condition and you require a full engineers certificate for any modifications (except for minor stuff like slightly bigger wheels, minor carb changes etc).
     
    It works out well and most people don't abuse the system and you don't see any rusty old bombs on SI rego.
     
     
    I personally have a couple of vehicles on SI rego and you haven't gone anywhere near the maximum of 52 days usage per year.  It also allows much cheaper insurance as insurance companies consider it very limited use and thus reduced  fees.

    The QLD scheme seems to be a lot more restrictive than other states. Because I have a second car to use as my daily driver I was looking to put the RS on club plates, from what I've read you can only take out your car on club runs and nothing else , apart from a test drive after having had mechanica.l repairs done, and the trip to and from the repairers

    Nsw has recently added rally rego for logged booked caged rally cars. Hoping to get my car on this next year

    mk2 2dr club car. pinto, stage 1 valves, rl31 cam, gsxr 600 tb running  MS2 extra. :-)))

    The current NSW scheme is the same but different clubs have different levels of enforcement and interpretation. As Whooligan said keeping out the idiots is the aim.

    Our club participates in the NSW log book scheme which is a 2 year trial starting on 1/10/2015.
    So far 3 members have transferred across including myself.
    The 60 day period includes personal use runs as well as sanctioned club runs and doesn't cost any additional funds for rego or insurance.
     
    Our club will continue to insist that members provide a pink slip with the renewal notice when we sign off on the paperwork and car must attend at least one club sanctioned run per year for committee to inspect vehicle.
     
    Personally I think its a great scheme, no need to have club secretary record all runs for members on club plates.
    NSW is also looking at modified vehicles but no details on this scheme yet as it wont come into effect until 2016.
