G'day Neil,
Sounds like a real basket case.
Better let me have it then! For a small but reasonable fee of course!
Seriously, Nice One.
As has been said, Good to see they're still out there.
Have fun,
Darian.

Will be able to properly inspect it now, but first order of the day is to get a new battery and get it running. Will have a good go at it Monday. It did not come with the Rostyles when new, had steel rims and wheel covers. The covers are in the boot, has a new switch or two and the window problem - hopefully the glass as just slipped. The front seats are not the originals, but I do have the originals - vinyl is cracked on them.

The capri window regulators had a habit of breaking the teeth in the gear. ALso the glass had a tendancy to pop out of the lower metal bracket as the old mastik went hard, causing a jam

Thanks for this tip. I can feel the gears mesh when I turn the handle, so I suspect the glass has jumped out. I assume this is a door trim off job. How do people reattach the glass?

Yep door trim off, silicon or sikaflex them back in but check that the holders aren't rusted out.

Thanks, can probably do that. Will look for a manual for the car, have a feeling that I'll need it.

Capri runs. Oil is like tar, carby worn, fuel pump shagged and points going to be replaced, but it goes vroooom! Another pic:

Original 165 crossply spare tyre still in the boot. Most rust is surface rust and all switches work, though most worn. I'm amazed at the price of new switches!

What does renewing do? all the switches work and I have a spare light switch in a box. Whooligan it has taken me a bit by surprise and I feel a bit conflicted. I had intended on making changes to increase performance anticipating that changes had already been made. I have the original service booklet and owners manual and even a receipt from 1980 when the extractors were fitted.

I re-chrome the backs, clean and re-dye the rockers, fit new symbols, clean the insides. Your vents I rechrome the knob, re-paint the cases and re-do the silver ring.

Service bill shows that a one piece tail shaft was fitted in 1980...was this common?
