Shea, Long time no see, you should get in touch with 'ben' on this forum. He's the owner of my old 'Granny' (gold beast on whitewalls from the victa cruise, years back), as he's got a massive custom boot install now with the 'Escort' in Mk1 style script with a light behind it. You two would bounce off each other - ideas wise.
Why not the Mk2 'Escort' script?
PM if you want his email addy.
P.S. Looks like good progress.

thanks guys, Craig, i've had the xmas work holidays to get some time on it, not as much as i hoped but ey. also got 8 weeks off gym so that frees up weekends for car etc. necks feeling pretty good.
Rhys, if i could get Bens MSN or email addy that would be great thanks. i tried a number of different fonts and i prefer the mk1 to the mk2 font.
if anyone could direct me as to where i can get red roll cage foam from that would be great, i remember an old link about it somewhere, i'll do a search on it now.
EDIT: the search engine is still down

hey guys, time for an update. i printed on to A4 the "Escort" mk1 script writing and then enlarged it to A3 at work, using a scalpel and scissors i cut out the stencil then centred and stuck it on the backboard i made ealier, a bit of carefull cutting with the jigsaw and a while of sanding.... walah! Download Attachment: P1040221.JPG51.7 KB Download Attachment: P1040220.JPG47.82 KB Download Attachment: P1040223.JPG87.85 KB Download Attachment: P1040224.JPG46.42 KB Download Attachment: P1040231.JPG71.36 KB i am trying to decide if i should add more to it, see the following pics. i am opting towards stenc 5, what do you guys think? i will put a 12" blue neon behind the lettering between "Escort" and "mkii" if i decide to add the extra font. behind all of the font (set back from the neon so theres a gap) will be a backboard with offset coloured vinyl, (black behind the red stripes, red behind the centre black stripe).. Download Attachment: stenc.JPG8.55 KB Download Attachment: stenc 2.JPG8.3 KB Download Attachment: stenc 3.JPG8.76 KB Download Attachment: stenc 4.JPG7.1 KB Download Attachment: stenc 5.JPG7.1 KB again more input please! oh and as you can see i got a fire extinguisher, is there a requirement that it has to be placed upright? is sloping downwards bad for it? i like it down the middle on the black stripe pointing forwards (like in P1040220 - the second pic ^^)... peoples thoughts? other mounting options.. fabricate a bracket to sit extinguisher more upright Download Attachment: P1040225.JPG54.3 KB mount behind the seat, either on floor or kick panel Download Attachment: P1040226.JPG82.03 KB mount infront of driver or passenger seat Download Attachment: P1040228.JPG73.4 KB cant wait for work tomorrow! during the christmas break, management thought it would be a good idea to put big squares of paint around the loading bays for the trucks. drivers have complained saying it will be dangerous when wet, i talked to the saftey officer today and tomorrow we will wet down the area and turn it into a skid pan, then i get to do some braking and slide tests on the forklifts to see if its safe or not. booyeah Shea

That turned out well Shea. I say boo[V] to the Neon idea. But I reckon by now you'd expect that from me.
My fire extinguisher is setup as per your last pic in front of passenger seat except a bit closer to the seat so its not in the way.
Have fun on the skid pan

thanks, yeah its getting there, need to decide whether to etch "mkii" into it before i go any further. as for the neon, you wont be able to see it, only a blue glow reflecting off the back board. EDIT: i am liking this font... Download Attachment: stenc 6.JPG6.81 KB

ok, been stretching the vinyl through, as you can see i need more work on the gap between "o" and r, and also the whole "t" but you get the point, after completeing that, i'll stick the perspex to the back, mount the neon and chequer plate etc. hope you like. You can always pick things apart when you are up close and have a real good look. From what I can see it looks great. Better than I had imagined. Good to see something different too.
