thankyou maxrs. perhaps i'll steer clear of the lightened flywheel as bottom end is all fresh, yet stock. ecu has rev limiter i believe, i'll probabably have it set for around 6500 for my application, the cams power band tops out there.

good to see the parts flowing in!
you should be happy the flywheel bolts are tight!!!!!!!! [:p]
try using a long breaker bar and a bit of pipe. that should do the trick.
you might aswell do the power windows and central locking at the same time too.

hmmm thread has been dorment for a bit, update, been collecting more parts. my injection manifold arrived and i have been cleaning that up, removing casting marks and smoothing it over. i have started polishing it by hand but need a dremel to get into the tight spots, plus i've been lazy so this is as good as it gets for now...

electronic dizzy turned up so i now have all the pieces to the EFI jigsaw puzzle [:o)]

finally got her in the shed so i can get stuck into it. engine bay in early stages of being sanded back (given up on the power tools, going with paint stripper as the - 2pac? - is really tough to lift.)

i popped one of my rims on the front with some 10mm spacers which should stop the inside touching the chassis rail at full lock.

i've decided to paint the bay gloss black myself so i can hurry up and get things moving.

F*** forgot to log in lost previous RE: argh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shaun,
the XE lip will only fit to mexico spoilers and RS2000 nosecones. i sourced mine from another forum member, Rhys (2lt_Scort) last time i checked he had some left, contact him. failing that i'd hit it up at your local wreckers. i wouldn't expect to pay more than $30 for one if your removing it yourself. very simple to fit - cut in half, remove section required from the middle and trim the ends, then sink some self tappers in and violla!
i can get you some more pics but shes not a pretty sight atm.

Craig, [88] hey its more comfortable than sitting on the xmember

nice esky, yes thats a mexico spoiler. if you measure correctly you shouldnt have to join the gap, i haven't although i probably will put some silicone or something similar there at a later date. i have read of other forum members securing the two pieces with a plate behind the spoiler but am not sure how they did it. i think Rhys (rs2000mk2) did this.

Hey Shea, first time I've looked at the thread.......nice looking car mate. You've jumped me in progress about 2 years now.

What brakes has it got on the front?

Not sure you really need to keep that Hilux in the rear end with a fuel injected motor though. It'll take half the power just to turn it over and push it along. many will disagree but we're all entitled to our own opinion.[B)][B)][B)]

Duane, with you there I have had the same diff in my last 3 Mk1 Escorts just a stocko MK1 Diff..... so thats a N/A 2L sports sedan, then into my Turbo'd 2Lt and now the Supercharged Mk1 2Lt, I dont know what it takes to break these as I have tried plenty of abuse and only last year after (showing my age) 10 years of abuse in 3 cars did the sungears pack it in.... easy fix weld them up now I have a locker diff and its still the same housing/axles etc as 10 years ago !

hey guys, thanks for the comments.

Duane, for the moment is running standard front, still hanging out for one of your brake kits when the time comes

the diff doesnt actually look that different to the standard mk2 job, but i am itching to see what its like with the drive-ability of LSD when i popped an axel out to measure up, i couldnt get over how massive and (30 splined) they were, weight yes but damn i should be able to launch this thing.

i guess i was just too rough on my old stock centres, but now i should be able lay down rubber with confidence[:p]

i've been busy retrimming the rear cabin area. i scrapped the fibreglass box because i want to keep weight down - but i still have a surprise in store pictures when i'm happy with the progress will follow, stay tuned

maxrs, i didn't think i'd need to clear coat the wheel? it seems to be covered in a thin layer of oil to protect it, would it be wise to remove and clearcoat???

--------------------------------

i thought it would be good to post some more progress, following pics are of engine bay and rear cabin area, both in the process of being completed.
pics;
engine bay when started, deep scratches, surface rust and lifting paint due to poor surface preperation from previous painter.

i have constructed from 5mm MDF a back and bottom board to keep the lack of rear seat looking more attractive, black and red vinyl stitched together (big ups to my mum for her help) then stretched over and secured with adhesive (i ran out) the back board will have "escort" cut out of the back of it in the original mk1 font,(see first pic) with a light behind it to make it glow. rear cards have been upholstered in black carpet and house eclipse 6x9's. wheel arches have also been padded and upholstered in black. i am now looking for some red roll cage foam so if anyone knows where i can get it please let me know.

Looking good Shea, where do you find the time??
I love the idea of having 6x9's in the rear door trims. Should make for some good tunes.
Oh, and how is the neck going?

Regards,
Craig.
