English Diff Build Date?

Hi everyone.  Is there a way of putting a build date on an English diff?  I have one that doesn't have a vent on the top like my other one does, and as it has non-standard gears in it (for the car's build date) I'm wondering if it came out of an earlier car.

    I always thought there was supposed to be a tag on one of the diff housing bolts, though in my experience they are rarely still there by the time we get to them
