If you have a nut-setter or install captive nuts wouldn't be too bad for the main engine bay part of the guards, might be a bit tricky where the guards mate up with the radiator support panel, guessing you would need flush mount bolts or flat head threaded screws to do the job.

I spent the time to convert my capri to bolt on and so glad i did. Its one thing drilling factory spot welds but it will be impossible to remove in one piece something that has been massively rewelded by hand.
Refitting i used a bead of sikaflex and evenly spaced nuts and bolts.

    Cons:
Its a **** of a job to undertake neatly- cutting spit welds or beads of weld if already a replacement guard mullers the metal
most likely will require repair work to guard lip, to the drip rail and the base of the A pillar to suit bolting on
    Painting of front end necessary
Some say the front guards are structural and welded on for a reason
    Pros:
Makes working on everything in the front end so, so much easier.

Looks like if I go to the trouble now it will be better later. I have a used set of twincam guards I will be putting on but there is a lot of repairs to do first. If I use sikaflex and bolts that will overcome the problem with weakening the car. I also need to look into a nutsetter. The drivers pillar needs replacing, rusty. I am looking for some damaged guards to replace some of mine thats to far gone.

Oz, have you found any of your rivnuts have 'worked' loose causing them to be difficult to undo, I'm thinking ill go caged captive nuts this time in lieu of rivnuts?

    Hi,
I need to do the same with my front left hand guard.
I haven't been able to find a new replacement yet. GRP4 appear to only have the twin cam style with the flare; anywhere else i should look?
Would it be possible to see some photos please of how the guard is finished off around the front/grill if not wleding and where the nuts go etc?

    Thank you
