Mk1 Fuel Sender Unit Needed

A club member needs a new fuel sender unit, MK1 V6.  Any clues on where to find a new one or what can be retro fitted?

I've heard these are fairly basic inside, and that they can be rebuilt. Not tried it myself though.

Apparently, the inner end of the swinging arm (float arm) comes into contact with a variable resistor (wound wire). If the resistor windings aren't broken (check continuity with multimeter), then cleaning the contact faces and ensuring there is enough contact tension is all that is needed.

If rebuilding isn't an option, the only place I know who lists them is Motomobil (or ebay).

    Cheers

Sometimes its as simple as the float has sprung a leak and flooded.
