200hp escort 1/4 mile time?

Guys help me settle an argument please, how quick would a 200hp fast road escort go down the strip I know there are plenty of variables involved so just a rough guess. I thought 15 maybe high 14's he swears his brothers mates cousin had one that did 13's all day long.

14's is more realistic. There is not a lot of escort left in the Harris escorts. Fiberglass front end, doors and boot. Perspex windows and no interior. Absolute minimum required to keep engine running. I'd be surprised if the red car weighed over 700kgs.

Just out of curiosity and while on the subject. What would a Twin Cam and EFI'd 2L MK2 RS run?

HP is only part of it.  Gearing and ability to launch has every bit as much to do with it.  200HP but with a 3.54 diff still isnt going to be all that quick off the mark.

Who cares about 1/4 mile times anyway.  Escorts are all about being good where driving skills such as accelerating, braking and turning corners are valued.  Any muppet can drive in a straight line

My mild pinto is roughly 100hp atw and does 16.2 sec in full trim with 3.77 diff and a soft launch (standard diff ). Im having another engine built at the moment with twin 45's and expecting low 15's or (optimistically) a high 14 with better gearing & lsd

a genuine 200hp is easily 13's in a mk1 that is well set up , but 200hp out of a na pinto is fair achievement takes alot to push the 200hp mark unless going turbo then its very achievable.
my pinto mk1 escort weighed 760kg and ran 13.3 @ 103 it was making around 180hp.

It's all in the combos- my brothers drag car (Mk1 escort ) ran turbo/injected pinto, 2-300 horsepower, Torqueflite 727 2 speed auto and a 5.7 hilux rear end which gave a 9.8 quarter at around 130 mph. Held national class record for 12 months until some little fiberglass jobbie took it off him.

My 1.6 xflow on 45's done a 15.9 and its was only 120hp so 200 should be in the 13's I would think
