Mk2 RS Air cleaner

Which air cleaner is correct for a Mk2 RS2000? Is it the blue plastic or the black plastic?

Cheers, Craig.

Depends on the decade. The 80's had side drafts with trumpets, 90's had redline on a DFAV40 (much more sensible) 00's nothing because it was parked up in the shed or whatever you could find to fit, and now factory standard metal blue.

Thanks guys, I didn't even think about the steel blue one. What were the black plastic housing used in?

So, because I am living in this decade it looks like I need a factory standard metal blue air filter housing. Anyone have a spare they want to part with?

    Craig.

Thanks Gareth, good to know. All these years I thought the 2L Escorts had a blue plastic air cleaner.

Thanks Glenn, I'll be in touch.

Often the metal air cleaner's were replaced with the plastic version. The metal air cleaner base cracks/ed adjacent to the carby hole due to the engine vibration and metal fatigue.

My 2L Escort came with a plastic one, as did many others.

Owned since new,  '79 RS2000 - blue metal one  is the original fitment.  But the base does crack as mentioned above.
