Hi Jeff, yeah getting one built. With standard YB pistons & rods and will go again with a ported big valve head. I'm trying to find an injection head, once that's found I can look at making the turbo plenum. I don't really want to do it with the carb head if I can help it. Better fuel atomization with the pear ports

Nice. I have also just started on a new head with bigger valves and some porting.
Look forward to seeing your results down the track once you get to that stage.

Being Easter long weekend I got a couple hours done on the car. I ordered some new trim clips a while ago so put the side mouldings back on. Installed a new courtesy light limit switch. Removed battery tray to make room for intercooler piping. Battery to go in boot in a sealed Moroso box as per regulations, some second hand king leaf springs, a new HSD coilover kit to go onto some Capri struts. Fitted a good used factory correct front bumper and had a set of factory correct steel rims sand blasted and primed. Just need a can of Argent Silver and do the black outs then fit some new 175 70 13 tyres :D I recently picked up some used Koni inserts on Gumtree from someone in WA. It turns out he didn't inspect these as thoroughly as he should have and I was misled regarding the condition. He's been good enough to take them back and give me a refund but this doesn't factor in my lost time, energy and postage costs. Well, keeping positive I found this video this morning to keep me motivated :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbweJDQbpbY

A little more done on the car. Front coilovers made & installed. Same set up as my last RS struts, got them gusseted this time. Koni inserts, HSD 5kg coilover kit, new bearing & seal kits, genuine Ford green tie rod ends. The back has 1x King leaf spring installed just to see ride height, it will come back out when the R31 axle goes in. I picked up some 72mm Ubolts for this purpose and welded up bottom spring plates, redrilling for the wider bolts. It could go a bit lower in the back but I'll keep it as is to get through RWC. I had the turbo bearing section unseized from the exhaust housing. It had become pretty stuck after 170,000km on a TypeR S15 haha. So now that's clocked at 20deg with the oil drain pointing down. And it turns out the poms were right- YB rods and pistons in a pinto will drop compression ratio to around 7:1. Don't ask me how I managed it, but I picked up a 1.6L pinto head to get over this hurdle! It will be getting a nice port job and bigger valves + a Tighe cross drilled billet turbo camshaft. Lot's of other bits bought and waiting to be installed like the fuel system. Any pics of standard 2L drop tank with a lift pump mounted under boot floor would be appreciated. I see there's room on the passenger side but this is the exhaust side. Maybe run exhaust on drivers side?

That is looking spot on. Love what you're doing with it! I'd leave the body exactly how it is, faded paint and missing stripes and all. Just all the serious gear underneath.

I really like your approach to this car- leave the original patina to tell the story. Cheers! Andrew

Cheers guys! Yeah i like the idea of keeping it as is. Cheaper too hahaha . I can always restore later on after all the mods have been perfected. GRP4 order turned up today ! I needed new top mounts because the Noltec poly material turned to cheddar after installation

Thanks Deano. I'm very glad I held onto them when I sold the MK1. Definitely no round headlights. It wouldn't be a Denim Pack otherwise :)

Noltec have been manufacturing these for a very long time. I would say they are an old set that were left in a shell or exposed to sun/ heat etc. Lots of poly suspension products end up doing this over time. My new GRP4 tops are alloy & rubber with Aurora spherical bearing. Not adjustable though

Having pulled the last engine apart, i had a bare block lying around so popped it in the car to check manifold and turbo clearances. As you can see, I will be able to retain the standard booster and bracket. It just needs a 90deg elbow on the compressor outlet. The dump pipe will be tight but should be fine.

Things are moving along steadily. I got my diff back yesterday (how big are the 28 spline axles!) We installed it today along with the king springs, new bushes etc. Next will be the fuel system and sorting out the rear brakes & handbrake. Fuel system is GRP4 alloy tank- 100 micron filter- Holley Blue lift pump- Proflow swirl pot- Bosch 044 pump, 3/8 Gates Barricade EFI hose, 40 micron filter, 4 x Siemens 630cc injectors, Turbosmart FPR800 fuel reg, back to swirl pot. It will be suitable for E85 but will do the initial tune on 98
