Haha, cheers Drew. You know the only thing that put me off going turbo pinto in the past was the cost of the exhaust manifold. I recently bought this custom stainless one in a bulk lot of escort parts and it ended up paying for itself by the time I sold off some bits. It's just snowballed from there :D  There's still a lot on the shopping list so it will be a while before she spools up!

Thanks Carlos. Phil is in Boondall, I can text you his number if you like.
I have taken a deposit for the 130hp motor so the only thing I have left to put in it is this :(

now that's the way to do it, the pinto responds extremely well to boost and they are fairly easy to do, I just had mine on the dyno  for the final tune,we still have safe fuel mixtures and timing  we put out 160 kw @ wheels (214 rwhp), response is great from the little motor. makes it a real fun car to drive now.

The mild pinto was collected over the weekend and will find its new purpose powering a very tidy MK2 Cortina.

Thanks. I have been told that modding the head to suit the EFI manifold is pretty straight forward. The head needs porting & setting up anyway so this will get done at the same time.

It's been a top day gathering more bits for the project.
R31 Skyline diff complete with handbrake assembly and tailshaft end. I had to drive to NSW for it but for $120 who can complain?
FG XR6T intercooler. Matches my measurements for available space so I'm hoping this will work. There's an abundance of these on Gumtree between $50~$100.

Here's some more pics of the 28 spline borg warner. I cut all the unnecessary brackets off. Still needs a lot of time grinding it all down. The diff seems a lot lighter and slimmer than the hilux one i had. Spec plate shows 3.89 ratio. Definitely a skyline diff :D

great choice we have fitted these diffs to a number off cars now,
28 spline is heaps for an escort, have even used the BW  behind  some very powerful vl turbos  1 customer has  run  as quick as 9.000 at around 155mph  but with 31 spline axles

Nice to see it coming together, you're not wasting any time... I think I spent as much time driving around picking up and dropping things off as I did actually working on the car. Can't say I drove to another state for bits though
Looking forward to seeing more... Drew...
