MK2 Escort wheel studs

I've attached a pic of the wheel studs from MK2 escort front hubs. The section in between the yellow lines protrudes from hub face which is too large in diameter for the wheels I have. Options are to find studs with a shorter shank (so the shank is flush with hub face) or machine out the stud holes in the wheels.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Are you fitting alloys? Some wheels seem to have very snug holes. If the studs are proper escort ones the easiest solution would be to just machine a small recess in the back of the mounting holes to fit over the studs.

Mate I was looking at the different studs I have left over from my project. The two on the left are 7/16 from a Mk1 escort or capri and the two on the right are 12x1.5 from Mk2 escort. I have 8 of the ones on the far left but if you are running 12x1.5 you probably don't want to use two different nuts front and back. A machine shop might be able to machine yours down to suit?

Thanks guys. Len I think that's a good idea. Either way these alloys are going to the engineer because the centre bores have a lip for the centre cap which fouls on the rear axle flanges!! Take this as a warning, anybody thinking about purchasing John Brown wheels! Mine are the 13x7 minilite design , O offset

I've just had an update from R&R Alloys about the wheels. Looks like JBW may have manufactured a bad batch... hmm. He says centre bores should be 65.1mm or 67.3mm giving plenty of space. Take a look at the centre cap, 59mm in diameter.
