1600 Kent not mounting right

I have recently taken my 1.3 out from my mk2 "81 escort ( unsure weather this engine was the original ) to put a 1600 Kent in it . The old engine mounts which were on the 1300 had perished and the rubbed had detached from the steel so I had them re made . The problem I have tho is when I have dropped the 1600 in to the engine bay the mounts have sat far too low in the brackets in which they atatch to in the crossmember , causing the sump to sit on the crossmember ( as shown in the photos ) I assume this maybe because the mounts have possibly been made to short , tho I could be wrong .

My second problem tho is , when the engine is sitting both on the sump as explained before , and when hoisted up to the height in which I assume the mounts should sit the gear box seems to sit very low causing the engine to be on a lean downward toward the back of the car which does not look right at all.

If you look at the photo of the gearbox cross member you can see a length of flat bar which has been attached by the previous owner , to move the gear box back by 100mm or so , unsure if this is contributing to anything or not but It was there when the 1300 was in as well so I have left it there .

Both the 1300 and 1600 blocks are 711m

Hope that all makes sense any help is good really stuck thanks

Looks as if the gearbox had come from a different car (eg capri or cortina) or the wrong x-member has been used (I recall seeing a banana shaped escort x-member not sure what its was used on).  a kent motor should be a bolt in application using factory mounts, there are multiple versions of the metal mounts and varying sizes available in the round rubber mounts (not sure about the rectangular ones in the pic).  Best to find a factory correct example and source the same parts, im sure many people on the forum have a good assortment of used parts to help

Capri The car I always promised myself

Looks like your car was originally auto and has been converted to manual (rather poorly) using the auto crossmember on the manual box and some "adapter brackets" to make it fit. Remaking, or finding a better fitting crossmember will sort that out.

As for the engine sitting on the rack, I would say the new mounts have just been made too short, but adding some thick spacers between the rubber and the crossmember should sort that out.

Fyi: According to smcka website. A pinto uses 2x50mm mounts and the kent had 1x50 & 1x35.

    mk2 2dr club car. pinto, stage 1 valves, rl31 cam, gsxr 600 tb running  MS2 extra. :-)))

I have looked up the numbers on the box and it seems to have come from a "61 mk1 tho I'm still unsure how to go about mounting it , apart from changing the box to an original mk2 box , do you have any knowledge on fitting a 5 speed Sierra to a mk2 escort ?? Thanks heaps for your help !!

As for the engine mounts I have measured them up and I'm taking them back to have more added on 😎

Also with an auto box is there a difference in where the crossmember mounts to the frame ??
