Alternator help!

My alternator is overcharging, spiking to over 18v when the throttle is touched.
As far as i can see there is no regulator fitted.

Do i replace the original lucas 15 AC with something with a built in regulator?
If so what options do i have? A search has brought up some info regarding an alternator from a XF falcon, does this use the original bracket?

Alternatively do i install an inline regulator? where would i be able to source one?

Car is a pinto powered MK1

I would put in the lucas to get it charging again but keep an eye out for Bosch XF alternator. You'll need a MK2 RS2000 bracket for it and a bush kit from yesterford

    Lucky you :)

Doesn't sound familiar. Should have a red Bosch sticker on the top.
Even with the bush kit, you might need to pack it out with some washers to get pulley alignment correct

The XF alternator just needs a spacer on the rear leg.  This can be done with a bunch of washers if need be.

The Lucas alternators are useful as a wheel chock but not much else

    Make it go FASTER!
