The first facial expression would have been a blank WTF face, second would have been 'ok I'm about to beat the life out of someone now'

Fancy them messing it up twice, that's a bit of a joke

Great score mate.. think long and hard before you molest it though. In all my years, I've never seen one this early with a metal dash!

Ha yeah well I got told the common line 'It was owned by a little old Italian Bloke' and I think it might be actually true!

Blue slip: Denied. Lots a little things so I think it's in the garage long term now. No point in putting money into it to pull it all apart in 6 mths. It's been good to spend a couple of hrs going over it and I'm pretty happy with the lack of rust. I think it's all fairly repairable by someone who knows what they're doing and keeping the original panels rather than replacing kinda feels right too.

I've had a few more deliveries this week, Type 9 from Eurospeed and I've think I've secured a motor.
Oh Yeah and this turned up......

Wow this Year has flown by and in reflection I'm glad I didn't make any rash decisions on ripping this little car apart. I've visited a few Car Shows and talked to a fair few people and have been convinced that restoring the 1100 is the best way forward. Being so close to getting it Registered, I've now focused on cleaning up the Interior and the Non Existant Brakes to get it back on the road and Cure me of my itch to get it up and running. Seats are re trimmed and Master Cylinder Reconditioned. Carpet will replace the Vinyl that seems impossible to replicate and a Blue Slip is not too far away! I know I'm doing things a little backwards but a full resto may be a little down the track but I'm sure everything we're doing would need to be done at some stage anyways.

Someone's Bodgy Repair!

As for the parts I've been collecting? Another Coupe Shell has been sourced but that's for another day.

Will be sad to see original 1970 issued S.A. numeric plates come off the car. But i guess that's progress.

I have a set of original plastic number plates on one of my MK1 coupe. How rare would they be?

So, a whole year has been and gone and this little car has been on club plates for almost 6 months now.
With the help of some fellow members and allround good blokes, we've replaced the vinyl floor covering (which seemed impossible to track down) with carpet that looks like a good fit. Even managed to source some switches of the same vintage to make it look like they were always there!
Mechanically we've replaced the Master Cylinder and the Rear Wheel Cylinders along with Brake Lines.
Discovered a nasty vibration between speeds of 60 and 80kmh which turned out to be a shot Uni Joint on the Prop and had it balanced while it was out. This fixed the problem and it now drives pretty well using every bit of its 1100cc's!
Over the past few months I've taken it around 4 Shows all over Sydney and I'm really surprised by the amount of attention it gets. So many people have been able to give me info on some of its make up and I'm now convinced I should leave it as original as possible.
The next step is to replace the front and rear bushes as it tends to wander at higher speeds but other than that a generous coat of Lanolin to maintain its Patina is all it requires.
Even got a Trophy for the Survivor Category at All Ford Day!
