Original mk2 radio and speakers

I notice there is a thread here showing the radio for the Mk1,

Does someone have some pics detailing the original radio/radio cassette and speak placement for a mk2?

Many thanks,

Shaun

I have some pics of the original MK2 Escort radio. They used a single speaker which was located under the dash. This is definite as my MK2 is completely original and still has its original sound system.

    G'day Shaun,
The Am radio was standard, AM/FM optional..... The factory parts manual lists a "multiplex kit" that had two speakers in the rear parcel shelf, I'll dig the manual out of the spare room later and take a pic.... I saw an old add ages back that said the denim pack came with a cassette player....
    Hope that helps Drew.....

I wasn't aware of that, I'd be interested in seeing the manual. I have only ever seen MK2 Escorts with the basic sound systems.

PS: I edited my first post so I hope it hasn't made things confusing.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents worth to this thread.

My Mum's Escort which was purchased from new by my Grandfather in 1975 was a Mk2 1.3L XL 4 door and it had the push button AM radio like in Eskie92's picture.

My Rally pack Mk2 2L 2 door 1978 had a Clarion? AM/FM tape player (with the Ford logo on the tape door) and 2 box speakers that mounted to the rear parcel shelf with wing nuts from inside the boot. The were rectangular with a 'woofer and a tweeter'. Very 70's. I don't have any pictures as it was in 1993. I gave the speakers to a mate of mine back then to put in his VE Valiant.

    Cheers, Craig.

Thanks guys, all good keep them coming.
Have you got pictures of the speakers? I'm pretty sure i I have somewhere what I think are original parcel shelf mount speakers, little rectangle box things but unfortunately it looks as though I have lost the radio over the years.
