MK2 Escort droptank sender seal

Hello all, having problems finding a fuel sender seal for a mk2 drop tank, however I've found them for the side fill tank...
Does anyone know if they're the same?
Or can anyone give me a diameter measurement of the sealing surface for the mk2 sidefill sender?

Cheers Drew.....

Mine's out of the tank - will post the dimensions up for you soon. Just bear in mind that they may be a little 'rubbery'.

These are the dimensions of a used seal from a Mk2 drop tank:

    OD is about 64mm
    ID is about 54mm
    Thickness is about 3.6mm

Let us know if you find a suitable replacement, as I wouldn't mind a new one myself.

Cheers Flighter, looking at the droptank and sidefill senders, pretty similar, they're cheap enough so if I can't get the sidefill measurement might just take a chance, but one and find out the hard way.... I keep you posted....

I cut a seal out of a sheet of cork gasket and sealed both sides of it with loctite #3, the aviation grade stuff. Hasnt given me any issues. I had a slow leak with the old rubber seal

Yeah, definately use a cork gasket, any sort of rubber or nylon will leak eventually. Use the piece of paper and dirty finger method to make a template and your all set

I used 1mm insertion rubber, which supposedly isn't the best with fuels, but has lasted 8 years so far without a leak.

No worries, I asked a few people who should know (mechanics) and they all said use cork as others have mentioned.

Not sure how I will go getting it out again now ive sealed it but i shall find out soon enough when i rebuild my sender

    Cheers
