Twin cam arches?

Hey guys

I've bought some weld-on twin cam arches for my MK1. I really like the look of these and I'm sure they'd tie in well with the modifications already made to the front of the car. But if they were to go on, the original chrome trim and side strips would  be removed. I'm just worried that the car will look like a bit plain with no trim or details. So the idea is to get some RS triple coach lines as seen on the White MK1 (attached)

I'd appreciate some opinions, Thanks

Maybe the pinstripes and the alloy sill moulds from an XL if you like a bit of the shinny stuff?

Tar's for getting there. Dirt's for racing!

Be careful not to warp the panel while welding. I'm not a expert with these Weld on flares but I'd cut most of the flat panel of the new arch away right up to the where the flare starts once the measurement is worked out.. which is 8in from the back of the guard/door on the lower style line. The front will be about 2in forward from the stock arch.
As for bright work I'd go the wide XL as mud suggests if you can find any without horrendous jack damage

Thanks for the replies. I won't be doing the welding myself. I have found a very good old-skool panel guy close to home who does lots of work on classics.

Once the mouldings & side strips are removed can the paint be touched up or will it all need painting?

    Thanks for the comments.

I guess I am one of those old school retired panel beaters :)

I got fed up with everything being run by computers and just wanted a simple angry sounding escort again.

I could do a tutorial with pics when I get 1/2 hr if you were interested in doing it yourselves.

Ps Clean side stripes off with a Toffee wheel (nick name for tool that goes in a drill) and there will be holes left that will need welding up if removing sill mouldings.
