Capri Mk1 Gt Mirror on Ebay

Not sure I would pay $600+ for a mirror

I was after one as a spare for my GT, but I don't think I would be willing to pay that much
 
 
 

Are you kidding?! How can a mirror be worth that much? Are they really that rare? Some of the prices that are being asked for things is just going a bit crazy these days.

Even it was a scam, the seller still owes ebay $167.00 for 10%, unless they try claiming "no longer for sale" trick.
Is this the only FOMOCO OFFICIAL GT mirror for capri, Escort & Cortina ??????????? ........does anyone here know which were the OFFICIAL   "    mirrors for GT Capri between 69 and 72 please ?
Either way, I agree with GTV6 that the XA XB XC Mirror is the best looking and most effective mirror ever......my XC 2 door Coupe that I bought new in 1978 still has the original Mirrors in 100% perfect condition, even after losing count of how many times I hit them !!!

Even the Cars on "Classic Ford Club" where you pick your colour and BUILD your Capri, show the XA-XC Mirrors.................love to know what was FoMoCo Fitted on GTV6 at the factory, other than those we just saw sell for $1700 for a used one...........madness!
If the XA-XC mirrors were exactly the same price as any other mirror inc the $1700 one, I still reckon  "    "      "    look the nicest and most practical.........as I see fitted to most Capris I've seen.
Theres a pair of NOS XA-XC mirrors on ebay and it's buy-it-now for $450 for 2 NEW ONES with all the adapters/spacers!....CHEAP as chips compared to one used one for $1700.oo   !!!!!!!!!!!

The early 1970 Gt V6 were fitted with the small bullet type mirror where as the later were fitted with the tear drop type (XA type).
I am not 100% sure of the exact date of the change over (mid 1971 I think) but it would have to be after 4/1970 as mine is fitted with the bullet type mirror.
So assuming only fitted to the early cars (also like the fake rear cast vent in the bonnet)  and early non GT's fitted with chrome mirrors makes that type of mirror harder to find and maybe thus the bidding chaos for the one listed.

No the k's weren't hard, sitting under pine trees for 20 years was. yes the mirrors worth more than the car! Ill use it one day when i fix the car up - one day .... Like wools - i wouldnt pay $1600 for one though - originality is nice but ..
