Boot light

Hi All,
Does anyone know how the boot interior light hooks up and if there is a switch or is activated automatically when the boot is opened? Have got a couple of wires coming from C pillar across the rear parcel shelf, maybe for light.

    In an Mk2 Escort it is activated when the Parking ligths are turned on. It is feed by piggy backing on the number plate light connecter in the boot.
