Coming along great there Phil. That cam cover issue is a tough one. I think the new one definately looks cleaner and it is definately different from the norm, although it seems a bit too modern for me, I really like the Red old style rocker cover against the blue engine bay, but that's just me Keep up the good work.

New one or small turbo escort cosworth head. I think it gives a cleaner look, especially with the carbon fiber garnish.[:p]

I'm a sucker for the old style, but probably because I've never owned one or seen one regularly, only in photos or at car shows.
If you want something different and to stand out, new style is the choice.

id go new style, cause it hides the coils and wiring to the coil, which overall makes it a lot neater top end of the engine. but maybe not body colour. too much blue will be a bad thing.

It has to be old for me, its a pretty recognizable cover and the new one I dont think suits the style of the car

phil the car is turning out amazing, been watching this thread with alot of interest as ive known this car and seen this car for so many yrs. its a big credit to u
for me u r mixing alot of the new with the old, its a new mix on the original french blue, the 18" Simmons but still keeping it old school with a modernised take on the standard dash
me personally i would go for the 'OLD' look that isnt really that old but throw ure spin on it painting it the body colour. you could modernise it but nothing else on the car really looks as modern as the other engine covers so i think it may look out of place

OLD!!!!!
I thought the small turbo ports were a lot smaller = larger porting bill and definately much harder on exhaust side as that is a hard to port even with standard head.
Also I thought the valve guides are different material - I imagine they will get removed for the porting but may influence decision.
What a decision to make both are good - did you mention you welded the small turbo head. What about thickness?

Hi Guys, Thanks for the feedback..it all helps with the decision Lincoln, I have heard the same rumours re the small turbo heads. I have checked the ports with a telescopic bore guage and they are identical to the large turbo heads. The guides are a much better material in the small turbo head and the guides in my head are barely worn, we may not even replace them. As an added bonus my small turbo head is virgin...never machined from new
