Mk2 RS2000 value

Did you see what a Mk2 Rs2000 2-door went for on FleaBay? Looks like it needs a full resto as well.

$18,099.00,   a bit over the top, maybe it just adds value to the rest of our cars :-)

Not sure what you are saying/implying.

Surely the highest bidder was aware of the price he was willing to pay before placing the bid.

Just remember the highest bidder only wins the auction because there are other people also interested in purchasing the car who are pushing up the price. Spend some time and have a look at the bidding history. There were several people very seriously interested in this car.

So even if the highest bidder sale does fall through, the seller has several other currently very disappointed people interested in buying the car.

No way I would ever sell any of my Escorts for less than $10,000. And if anyone attempted to tell me I am a crook I would simply tell them to f off.

It's nothing new for sellers to employ their "mates" to dummy bid on ebay auctions. The problem is they get greedy and end up being the highest bidder on their own auction! When the items become relisted, everyone smells a fish and they struggle to sell it. Karma

People who want them will pay reasonable money. Its just the greedy sellers that fantasise what the car is actually worth. Sometimes they take what they have spent into consideration. You could allow a small percentage into the cost but like I said Greed is a powerful thing.

I spoke to the owner of this today. Genuine RS2000, has a defect in South Australia for a minor oil leak.
Rust in heater bubble/ firewall and below rear window. Very repairable. Freshly worked head & twin dellortos. $5000

What does this say about RS values? Not much aside from the fact you can still find a bargain out there

Are yu thinking of buying it?
Maybe one of us northern adelaide gizas could do a proper unbiased check on it for yu. Over here a defected car really devalues them , if it needs to go thru Regency Park checking station , apart from the cost of the check... It might come out with more serious defects which is the way they work to get more money or for yu to give up and wreck the vehicle. On the other hand if it's only a police check(rare) ur laughing as the rozzers don't know front from back half the time on old cars. .. And they only check the written problem. .ie oil leak.. Usually free and off yu go !
If the owner removes the defect by legal means , the car may sell for a grand or two more( if he tidies it up ) .
    Cheers

Hi Marty. It is tempting (thanks for the offer to look at it) but I really have too much on my plate as it is. Still 5K a lot of cash to part with, plus transport to Qld and unknown condition as far as rust goes. But seems like a good project that wouldn't lose the money spent on it. Cheers
