My 1976 Mk2 Escort project
The car was bought new buy my grandfather in 1976,Its done 46,000km but has been sitting around for the last 10 years gathering dust and rust. So some funds have come in and it's time to throw some coin at it and bring it back to looking sweet.

Its very satisfying to rebuild a car that has been in the family for generations. It sort of binds you all together and gives you pause to think about what has gone before. I like the vision for what it will become. Have the determination to see it thru. Great work so far although if the pic of the drivers door is right then those welds have caused more waves than the sea. Strip it then use filler and a sanding block that is about 500mm long , it should straighten up ok.

Cheers Ron, I have handed my pride and joy over to someone else to do the restoration for me as i have no idea. I have also hurt my back so i am unable to drive down and check the progress, but i did ring him and ask the same question and he advised no waves its just where he ground off the paint before welding and it left paint dust on the door. I have heard nothing but positive words spoken about the person doing my car so i'm confident it will turn out great. Fingers and toes crossed

Hey there ausmk2, I'm with Ron, the family tie makes it well worth doing, good to see you've got a plan for paint, wheels and especially the engine, theres nothing wrong with a screaming 1600 In the meantime take care of that back, I heard the lectures as a young fella and never thought I'd be giving them. I have my bad days but one good day playing with the Escort or driving the 'Tina make up for it tenfold...... Keep the pics coming..... Drew........
