Best windscreen rubbers for MK2 escort

Hi all,
as the title states, Im chasing up what the best windscreen rubbers are for a Mk2 escort. I know there are a few places to get them so probabaly some are better than others. My rally pack had new rubbers when it was restored 3 years ago by the previous owner but they aren't a perfect fit at the top and a fair bit of mastic sealant has had to be used to help the seal at the top corners . Also the rubber in the corners at the top has started to crack which is quite worrying as to the quality of the rubber and the sizing of the mould.
                     Cheers

East Kent trim in the UK.
I bought from them a few months ago to get everything for my van ...inc postage was nearly half cost as Aust products, fitment is spot on too .

I got a set of solid 'RS' rubbers from the Uk.... Still have to get the roof lining in so not sure how they fit yet....
The car had solids on it originally, but were replaced when it was painted the first time, the top corners stuck out and the 'chrome' strip discoloured in the sun straight away.....
The solids were a bit more expensive in the first place, but by the time you include the plastic 'chrome' strip on the other type the solids end up cheaper...
    Cheers Drew.....

So, what came standard on aussie MK2's ? did we originally get the chrome strip seals or the solid seals which a lot of people refer to as RS seals. personally I prefer the solid seal without the chrome but will go for whatever fits/seals best

RS had the solid seals all black and the lesser models had the chrome lock strip. My mk2 has std seals but with black lock strip which I think came from vk comobores .....dont quote me on that tho !!

I wonder how that came to be ie. the RS's getting the black. was it purely cosmetic or for another reason. I cant think of a reason why they'd use a special screen seal for the RS

From what I know s the RS doesn't have any chrome brightwork anywhere which is same for mk2 Mexico & 1600sport probably cause being dedicated rally/race cars where chrome is a luxury. As for Aus rallypack they were mainly GL base cars with spoilers and suspension upgrades, with chrome add ons. ..

The black lock strips sound like a good idea, the chrome ones don't seem to last that long. The ones on the Cortina really bug me, but I can't bring myself to tamper with an otherwise unrestored car...
The boot lock is chrome on the RS, they should have the stainless strips on top of the doors and the plastic chrome gutter trims........

I think only the 4 doors had the chrome strip along the bottom of the side windows.  It looks good, so I wish they'd done it with the 3 door too.

    Hi All,
I bought a complete set of all seals for a 2 door RS from Scotts old Auto rubber. Got the solid ones for the RS and are great fit and quality. They also sell a special rubber conditioner which I have used on all my screen seals and keeps them in as-new condition - the UV in this part of the world is horrendous- our local weather station gives a uv rating everyday like the Richter scale - up to 15 in the summer but thankfully down to about 7 or 8 in the winter.
