Fitting a cam to a 1600 - Need Advice

I had a quick search on the forums and didn't come across what I needed to know. I've fitted cams to v8s, v6s and ohc/dohc straight 6s and 4s, but I have never fitted one to an ohv engine before. Basically, my engine needs a rebuild, and I thought while I was at it, I'd fit a 224 or 234 camshaft, but before I attempt it I'd like to know if I need any other components, or if I can just swap 'em over.

Also, my car has pacemaker extractors, a 2" exhaust, and I have a set of bike carbs that I'd like to put on, but I haven't got around to making the manifold yet. ...It's also mated to a type 9 5-speed. I know it's not relevant, I just like saying that my once automatic escort is now a 5-speed. I took HEAPS of pictures, maybe I'll post a thread up about the conversion...

Thanks in advance :)
