Rear Spring Setup - Mk1

Just looking for suggestions what people are running for the rear on Mk1 with spring and strut setups.
Having a quick skim through the forum it seems like the king springs are a popular choice.
The car will be half street/ half race but not allot of either, if that makes sense.
The front will be setup as per a previous thread, so it will be good to get the rear right also.
There is currently no tramp setup etc and wasnt really intending to install one.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

The current rear springs are fairly sloppy so they will get replaced with what is suggested.

Thanks
Kieran

I would also be interested in the answer to this.
After reading some other threads i looked on the King Spring website. There is only a listing there for Mk2 springs not Mk1.
    Anyone have a supplier?

Mk2 King Springs will fit in the mk1's.

If you also want to get rid of axle tramp you need a rebound leaf added added as well..

Here's a few pics of mine.

    Cheers,

    I'll finish your statement :P

Mk2 King Springs will fit in the mk1's.

    with modification.
There is much debate about using MK2 leafs and machining the bushes so they fit a MK1.

Matts springs are custom made by Gdub on the forums here.

If you have a spring manufacturer nearby  ie: Mayne Spring Works I would suggest getting a set custom made. It will cost the same as the MK2 Kings

Yeah mate. I think its John you need to speak to. They're very down to earth and well priced. Take in your originals (for reference) and ask for a half reversed eye on the front and full reverse eye on the rear and a half leaf in front of diff to prevent tramping. Prob wouldn't hurt to take in a photo of Matts springs. They'll guide you along if you're unsure.

I haven't put them into a MK 1 but I know guys who have and there are no dramas.

They are King Springs I got from Wozzah on the forum.  They are lowered and come with extra lowering plates too.

These are quite expensive as they are more for racing but having fitted them I Do Not get any axle tramp at all which in previous Escorts was horrible not to mention would munch axles.

GDub got his from Wozzah too and also direct from Kings I believe.

Matt if your springs come like that from king they must be special order/ custom. The ones they generally supply (FOR-024) look nothing like the ones in your photos.

Yes Mate, Wozzah ordered them to his specs.  They have reverse eyes on the front and half reverse on the rear (to help with clearing the chassis rail) with an added anti-rebound leaf added.

    Cheers
