MK1 Escort Drive Shaft Housing Seals?

Hi all, recently pulled my rear brakes off my MK1 Escort, cleaned all the spilled oil and replaced the shoes and cylinders but when I finally came around the putting the brakes back together there was oil there again.

Its leaking out of the drive shaft housing of the diff and I was just wondering what I'm needing to replace.

I pulled the drive shafts out and the bearings appear to be fine. Just double checking if there is a replaceable seal within the drive shaft housing that I can replace because I'm having trouble finding where to buy some from.

Cheers

Some axle bearings have an O-ring sitting in a machined groove which then seals to the axle flange as you push the axle home. Other bearing brands don't!  If you are sure your current axle bearing and it's oil seal are good, and your bearing type doesn't have this outer O ring then try a very small bead of silicone sealant placed in the recess where the bearing sits.  Oil is probably weaping out between the bearing and machined flange.

The o-ring is not the actual seal!  It does nothing more than stop very minor weeping. I would never recommend putting silicon around the bearing.

If there is diff oil coming out onto the backing plate the axle seals are leaking.  These are part of the wheel bearing so you have to replace the whole bearing.  They arent expensive and any workshop with a hydraulic press can do the job in about 10 minutes.

    Make it go FASTER!

What's the O ring  there for then Gdub?  Equivalent O rings are on Quaiffe floating kits too! But agree if oil leak is significant it's most probably the seal on the bearing assembly.
Eskie92- Seal comes as part of the bearing when you buy, not replaceable on it's own.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I will look at replacing the bearings.
