weather strip clips scratching windows

has anyone else had issues with this:
i have purchased new windows,
new weather strips (inner and outer)
http://www.scottsoldautorubber.com.au/Ford%20Escort%201968-75%20MK%201.htm
new clips for the weather strips
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Outer-Weather-Strip-Clips-MK1-Escort-RS-2000-Mexico-TC-/180650081297?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a0f957c11&_uhb=1
new bailey channels

so basically everything is new.

Once all fitted i get cant stop the weather strip clips from rubbing the windows, this isnt idea as they are sharp metal on the new glass, and id like to use the windows.

Has anyone had this issue before?

    Hi Grant

Just did mine last month, once you have pushed the rubber into the clips you should be able to embed the claws in the rubber and fold them back in to clear the window.

    hi graeme,

its the top square bits of the clips that are rubbing not the claws,
    does this make sense?
i tried to bend these back but being strong metal clips had no luck

    Sorry "Glenn"

I just checked mine and tried to get a photo but door trims are on so couldn't. If the rubber is pushed down enough into the clips the "lip" on the outer side contacting the door should force the window side of lip flatter to hold the window away from the clips. My clips are the original ones so maybe they are not as stiff. I have a second RS at work I'll see if I can get a photo tomorrow.

BTW did you have any wiring looms that fit the EFI gear?

I had this issue with the local reproduction outer weather seals. (mine were from Rare Spares). If you look at your old originals you will see little molded recesses where the clips sit and give extra clearance. I persisted with the local and had to trim the upper most portion of my clips to gain clearance from the glass but I was never really happy with the molded curve at the rear of the window opening and finally bought some from 'East Kent' that had the correct profile, correct molded curve and the molded clip recesses for added clearance from the glass.
