Rebuilding a Lucas Alternator......where to go?

Hi Guys,

The alternator in my car is cactus, and im trying to find somewhere to rebuild it, but seem to be having a few problems.

Out of the two places ive contacted, one said they would rebuild it because its too old, and the other (after I dropped it off), are having trouble finding parts for it because of its age.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I could go to get it rebuilt?. Or indeed have one for sale that they know works?.

Dont waste your time and money.  Go and get a brand new Bosch unit for an XF falcon.

Assuming they fit up to the same mountings as the escort one?. Do I need to change any of the wiring or terminals for it to suit?.

On a 2 litre they just need some minor spacing on the rear leg at the bottom.  Usually done with a few washers

Any idea whether the dimensions are similar? The factory mounting holes on my lucas are pretty worn, well oval shaped to be honest and I too am looking for another unit or an alternative that'll work with a factory a/c set up, it's pretty cramped in there with the compressor.....
