1970 Hot Orange GT V6

Hi all, I thought I might add a couple of pics of my Capri.

I think most of you know the car.

Anyway after a very busy 12 months (with work and family commitments) I have finally got around to complete stripping it down for its bodywork freshen up.

So I currently have a bare shell, and lots of Capri parts in labelled boxes! and Lots if plastic bags with bits and pieces in them.

I suppose I will give some details and car history.

This little gem of a Capri was purchase from Bib Stiwill Ford on the 1st May 1970 by a female solicitor Mrs Hilda J T********.

Mrs T owned in until 1973 when Jon B purchased it.

Jon B owned it until mid 2012 and he kept a very accurate and detailed history of the car including full service history, receipts for purchases made etc (A very interesting read).

It has full service history and maintenance records which confirms the millage as a genuine 97,000 miles.
(yes I know it is hard to verify early Ford millage on these cars, as the odo only reads to 99,999 miles).
However the service history and cars overall condition confirms the milage.

Jon B then sold the car to Chris in Tassie.
Chris purchased the Capri, and then needed to sell it (a story for another day)!

Well I was looking high and low for a good Capri, including the mainland (yes I am in Tassie).

Then I was doing the usual checks on the internet websites, and bugger me this car was advertised and was located only 100 km from my house.

So a quick phone call, inspected car the next day and a deal was made.

I took custodian/ownership of the Capri in early 2013.

Chris had not registered it, so I am technically the third registered owner.

I contacted the previous owner Jon B, who was very welcome in me phoning him as he still very much interested in his Capri, and only sold it as he owns a couple of other classics and had retired from work and decided to downsize his fleet.  I have had several conversations since with Jon B and he has sent me some further history regarding the Capri including this awesome late 1970's photo.  (Got to love those BF Goodridges tyres, and the fuel filler cap!)

Great colour, I like it...... Nice to have got the history and chatted to old owner.
Good luck with the tidy up, I look forward to seeing the end result.

The car was a regular visitor to Capri CLub Concourse when we were in Yarra Glen dropped off the radar for many years and re-appeared about 4 years ago at Small Ford Sunday.  Good to hear the car is still about and being brought up to spec

A very nice example. And in 1970 hot orange was my favourite color. (You had to be there).

So here is a couple of more photos.

Rear rear seat prior to removal and cleaning, you got to love the 70's trim inserts (non original seat belts fitted to pass rego inspection, as originals were a little faded and did want any hassles).
    Also pic of front seat.
Some refer to this trim insert as "Savannah" but I am not 100% sure what the correct name is.  According to my letter from Ford confirming build codes, dealer etc it is only listed as cloth trim (Note: Trim code on compliance plate is: N2).

Pic of underbody prior to cleaning.

Then a pic after I spent many hours cleaning up the underbody, I found all the factory paint marks on the rear spring bolts, g/box crossmember bolts, tramp bar bolts, etc.

I will post some pics of the shell in the next day or so when I upload them from my camera.
