Ford escort 1978 mk2 Rb25 build.

Hello everyone, I've recently purchased a 4door mk2 escort. its got the original motor in it at the moment, its unregistered due my friends brother not being able to afford to pay the rego (being his project for 5 years). so my plans are to get it painted, get the original motor cranking and license it.
then the big stuff begins, I have an Rb25det and gearbox waiting to be put in. Just wanting to know if anyone else on this forum has done an rb25 conversion and would like to give me any tips beforehand so when i run into the fabrication work i can just follow someones previous solutions to any issues. keeping in mind i am a vehicle body builder(welder fabricator for trucks, trailers and bus's). so any fab work i can carry out myself with ease.

So if anyone has any tips i would greatly appreciate it!
I currently already know you need to cut the firewall back, gearbox well and obviously need tailshaft, engine and mounts modified or fabricated.

I have a mk2 2 door with 2JZ-GTE. Big job as I'm sure you are aware. I fabricated up a new firewall and gearbox tunnel as well as upgraded to r31 skyline diff. Also have big brakes and flares to accommodate 265 tyres on 15" wheels. I obviously had to ditch the twin turbo setup as it is too big and wouldn't make the power I wanted. You will be fine with the rb except I know from doing conversions on other cars that the rb is slightly longer than the jz engines. Also you will need to run remote brake/clutch reservoirs. I just run a peddle box as easiest and neatest option. Legality of it all I believeyou can fit 2.5L turbo or 3L non turbo (in QLD aanyway). Hope this helps.

How do I add pics off a mobile phone? Every time I try it says file upload fail. Size is under and format is correct.

Correct but I believe it works off heaviest vehicle available in that option. Example a mk2 escort gets worked off a 4 door 2L auto with factory air con which comes in at like 1150kg or something. So I believe even if you have a 1.6 2 door they still work it off the heaviest option.

U wont be able to register it. And it goes off ur car not the heaviest option. Pretty straight forward swap if u got time and effort to do it.

Yes goes by vehicle weight, but not the real weight of the car. It's what the transport authorities have on file (look at the rego certificate)
