Correct High Back Seats

Hello all you Capri lovers

I am wanting to identify if I have Capri or MK 1 Escort high back seats. How does one do this because at a general glance they look almost exactly the same.

The stiching across the front of base will be on 45 deg angle and 6 rows of inserts

I have uploaded some pictures of said seats, I am thinking they are Escort ones or poorly re trimmed Capri ones. They have 6 ribs but no 45 Deg angled stitching, also the only other type of rails I have seen are quite high, the rails i have for these seats are very low. Help

not at all like the high backs from my 72 model. mine have the same base as the low back with basket weave inserts to the base and back - the only diff btn the low back and high back is the higher back

There are 2 types of high backs used in capris, the style you appear to have here ie release lever in the middle, then there are another style which have the release lever in the rear of base down at the rail

    gtv6,

Thanks for your information, now I need the correct seat rails for these seats and the correct stitching pattern for them as well. Do you know anyone with a set of correct seat rails????? I do have a set of rails but I think they are for the side release style seat (the ones with the rectangular frame under the seat) these do not line up with the holes in my seats. Oh the pain in spending 2 years looking for high backs.

Hi guys, on the topic of seats would a set of low backs from a 69 GT be the same as the originals for a 1970 V6 or did they come with high backs? I'm looking at a set avaliable at the moment.
    Cheers

The high back seats were fitted from the beginning of '72, so all Australian Capris before this time had the low back style.

I know there were some slight trim differences between '69 and '70 models, but not sure if seats were one of them. Others here will know more.

    Cheers
