Whats this 32/36 spacer ? Is it beneficial?

Hi all.
I got this weber off a TE Cortina standard manifold to put on my MK2 esky 2 litre and noticed this unusual spacer plate between the carb and manifold . It has a porting/shroud/funnel as seen in the pic  on one of the throats. Ive never seen this fitted to any 32/36 before. Is this beneficial to the performance or better to remove it ? Engine has a mild cam but otherwise standard.  It looks like it would channel the fuel mix toward the inlet ports rather than straight down into the manifold.
       Cheers

interesting, I was thinking it may be to improve flow efficiency or torque or something like that by trying to channel the mix straighter into the ports rather than straight down into the manifold floor where it would have to then abruptly turn to flow into intake ports

It is there to improve air fuel distribution under part load( cruise conditions in particular). This allows for leaner mixture and better egr operation. It does however hurt performance.
