SaggaRS If you're out by 9% with the speedo, you're also losing 9% of top end! Good for dragging but not so good on the high speed ring!
3.54 ?

If the standard ratio is 3.9 then yes, moving to 3.54 will pick up most of the difference.

Its funny how everyone in Australia runs 205's on their 13" wheels, while in UK they run much smaller. The Yokohama A539 were a great tyre. I believe they used to have a 205/60/13.. but i couldn't find any online. Just some 175/50/13: http://minisport.com.au/prod1413.htm
But I'm sure any good tyre place could get them. Why don't you go the south london look and run them small? Sometimes a smaller tyre actually makes things work better (below is 175/50/13)

175/50/13's on 6" dragways, look like arse @ standard height Needs to be low! Yeah it's a massively different style over there (look like cotton reels :). But I'm no fan of the 205/60 either. Modest JDM style is where it's at (wide rims, tall tyres ie: 65/70 profile with a little stretch)

I just put a set of 205/60/13s on 13 x 7 rims. That's what we use to run in the 70's. They are Sonar brand with directional tread and they hang on better than anything I can remember running back when Mk2's were new. You do need to roll the guards to stop them scraping. Graeme

Ive done the 175/50 on a 13x8 currently using 175/60 on the 13x8's, similar look but just softer ride and better rolling radius. also done 175/70 on the 8's and 175/70 on 7's

I only put 205/60s on my Volantes because I wanted to try and fill the guards out more, and that size kept the speedo correct. A better offset would have seen me use something skinnier, like original 175/70s or even 185/65s. It's a moot point for me now, as I'm going to 15x7s eventually and the tyre size and offset will be spot on.

I have had both Yokohama 352s and Falken ZIEX ZE912 in 205/60 on a 13x7 rim and in my opinion the Falken are a better tyre. The Yokohamas are softer with treadwear 200 and Falken 360 but the Falkens seem to hold on better, a lot better in the rain also. The Yokohamas didn't last long either. I was going to use the Yokohama A539 185/60 but no tyre shop here in Adelaide said they could get them. They all said they may not be stamped ADR approved so I didn't want to take a gamble. To those using this tyre, has it got any markings on it about meeting Australian standards? If it does I would get them. Last tyre change I decided to try the ZE912 in a 185/60 on the front and although they are harder than the 205 they still give a fair bit of grip. Still not as good as the 205 though. The bloke at the tyre shop said there isn't any other 13 inch road tyre (185 or 205) that would be as good so that's why I keep buying them. Ryan

I've always gone to Bob Janes at Prospect. They have always looked after me and they really know what they are talking about. If look is an issue I can chuck some photos up of the Falkens and Yokohama 352s (althought I don't think you can get the 352s at the moment) so you can see both sizes with respect to guards and what not. You might see my car at the Yankalilla cruise Sunday anyway. Ryan

I have aset of Volantes for the RSMK2, but have had 13"x7" since Ive owned the car, around 30 years. I have Kumho's fitted now, but want 215/50/13's. I wont pay $265 each for them tho. Any ideas to get the 50's?
