Big amp alternator to suit pinto

Hi all

I'm looking for a good 80-100 amp or bigger alternator to run on my escort rally car. Is there anything other people are using? I'm currently using a ea falcon one that keeps failing due to big revs

Cheers
Matty

    Matty,
Put a larger diameter pulley on the alternator that should solve the problem.

I thought about that as well.. ive currently got a 72mm diameter pulley. The crank shaft pulley is 112mm (approx) so its spinning much faster than i want it to at the moment. Is there anywhere i can get a larger pulley? failing that ill get on the lathe and make my own bigger one..

Spend the money on LED lights and you won't need the big alternator.

Nice result at the Bay by the way.

Tar's for getting there. Dirt's for racing!

I have built a xf falcon alternator with vn-vp commodore internals for a customer whom was having similar problems, have not heard back from them so im guessing it went well
