barn find - sort of ...

Totally original -except for the rust -  taken off the road in 1981 and left to fester under pine trees - The engine turns over but I haven't tried starting it ..... I thought I might try resurrecting it but its just too far gone - I real shame

why is it too far gone ? from the photo's it dosnt look too bad - but then again things in the flesh always look worse than a photo. If it was in Perth i'd be happy to be the custodian of such a car.

I have one like this (possibly worse). It wouldn't be economically viable to rebuild, so unless it had sentimental value, you'd be tearing up money. It's unfortunately only useable as a parts car.

if its a full nut/bolt/respray re-build I can see your point. I must say i'm quite into keeping the car body original looking. My version of a restoration on a car like this would be to make it safe to drive then just roll in it as is..............i'm always intrigued by the non restored cars.  RatRod Capri  :-)

its around at the other house - ill take some more pics and youll see what i mean by rust - its sacreligious to chop something as original as this up - but wait till u see it - the pics dont show how bad it is. the last v6 i did - i spent 6 days odd doing the rust so im not afraid to tackle them. yes the drivers weather shield - ive scaved it for another v6 im doing - really quaint - but its the 1981 rego sticker - how long is it since!  - its sad it was left out - it might be good to just clean it, vacuum it, and leave it as is - it has a magic of its own - a different kind of resto....

heres another one ive scaved - 72 v6 - ive stripped most of it - this one is really nasty! a king hit in the drivers side! The a pillar has been pushed into the footwell to he point where the tunnel is badly creased. Still i suppose - if u stretched it on a jig - professionally - and inserted a new a pillar and part floor pan - but even the front inner guards r misaligned..i love the eliminators!

Glad to hear the 1st one has been saved from scrap metal yard.

This QLD one above probably isnt that bad, I cant see any holes and the metal in those days was so thick that the rust would probably clean up ok.

    What a waste
