Oil catch tank plumbing

I'm putting a catch tank onto my 1600 xflow and am wondering about the pipe from the PCV. I've taken the guts of it out, but the nozzle on the outlet is too small for my 1/2" ID hose. The hose is a nice tight push into the grommet so that might work. It goes in up to the line on the hose I've drawn (maybe a bit further). My question is, would the pressure build up enough to force the hose back out? Is there some other way to do it? Anyone got any other suggestions?

Just chuck the can away and tap a tread into the block.

Tar's for getting there. Dirt's for racing!

I just used the existing take off but cut the bottom off to get the ball bearing out.  It's on a Pinto but theory is the same and seems ti work fine.

I've got the hose into the grommet as per your photo, on a pinto, & many years of supersprints with no problems.

    Thanks for the replies guys.
I reckon for this engine I'll just stuff the hose into the can. I'm hoping to get another engine on the stand and built up in the near (or distant) future, and for that one I'll tap the hole.

I hooked it all back up the other night and today I took the car for a blat up the road and back.
Looks like it didn't work too well as there oil got splashed all over the side of the engine and bay.

It looks like its coming out of the bottom of the oil separator can. When I put it back in the o-ring wasn't a tight fit. Might try a new one on there to see if that helps.
But does the system need a breather in it somewhere? I'm guessing the as the pressure gets up at revs the oil is forced out the path of least resistance. Here's how I've got it hooked up at the moment.

If you do end up tapping the hole, how do you stop the swarf from getting down into the block? And what size tap do you need? Its a fair sized hole.

Or maybe get one of these? I'm guessing it just pushes into the hole in the block does it?

You have completely sealed the crankcase breathing and is exactly why it's getting pressurised and spewin everywhere. You need a breather in the system. Just run the rover cover cap hose and plug up the separator one. Use a breather in place of separator hose on catch can.
