so close to starting the engine for the first time. have hit a few hurdles over the last 2 weeks with working night shift and having some big night. i also under estimated the amount of work i had to do. i have a little bit of wiring, adjust tappets, fit heater hoses, started cable, fill it with coolant, oil and kick it in the guts. im gonna do my initial start up without the turbo hat on make sure the engine runs fine without the turbo. will post photos of the engine bay soon.

nah, havent driven it yet. got a few more things to fit. catch can plumbing, lights, bonnet, brake booster lines, air filter plumbing and probably a few other things ive missed. the turbo im using i got a for free to dummy everything up. thought id wing it n see if it was ok, i think its done an oil seal so its blowing a lot of smoke on boost. ive got a chinese copy on its way so hopefully i get it before the cruise..

took the van for it maiden voyage late yesterday, the most successful part of it was getting it out the shed and across the road before it started leaning out, big time. on full throttle it was good, running just a little bit rich. in the shed it seem ok but the slightest bit of load + boost and it leaned out instantly. i spent today messing round with jet sizes. borrowed some jets from bens 2L PV. atm im running the secondary fuel and air jets in my primary circuit. went from a 160 to a 145 in the air at first which helped, then when from a 120 to a 132 fuel and it only leans out higher in the revs on light throttle. went for a good drive to day and so far so good. gonna try a 140 in the fuel later today or tomorro morn. i could also be up for a better clutch, the std one doesnt like boost.

been a long time since i last posted. had been driving the pv for the 3 months i regod it and started on the body in the months after that. had some teething issues early on with the carb and dizzy but got that sorted after a lot of playing around. would the boost up form 5 to 8 at about 2000km and tuned it again. did the clutch after winding the boost up. it would start to slip coming onto to boost in 2nd 3rd n 4th. put 3.54 diff gears in to try and compensate for the small tyres. done heaps of skids and short trips to clarendon and back. have also done alot of rust repairs on the whole car.

Looks great Jake. The wide steels really suit. Are they genuine Lotus rims?

is there a way to tell if they are lotus wheels? i got them off a bloke in Salisbury SA painted that colour and i got the tyres fitted. all i know is they are 13x6. i do have some 7s in the shed that i wouldnt mind swapping the centres over to the same as these.
