have been having some sort of progress with the pv, started putting my engine together to find I didnt get a main cap bolt back from the engine shop. i could live with that, worst case, if they couldnt find it id have to pull down my spare block for 1 so i continued assembly until i got to my last piston and found i was missing an oil ring from my packet. now im waiting for them to get back to me with my bits. in the mean while i set out to fix an oil leak on my gear box, long story short, i hope i dont have to do that again any time soon but all bearings, synchros, gears and leak are all good. so no new photos atm

got my bits n pieces today and assembled the major part of the engine to do some finishing touches like set up return lines and water lines before final assembly and paint. i have some work away coming up soon which puts me well behind on getting it running for the end of year JAFs cruise, see how i go.

Mate,
Seriously liking this thread, just started mine and already feel Swamped but enthusiastic. Your PV is looking sweet, giving me plenty of ideas, except I'm pretty sure mine is going back to full bare metal (at this stage) but not a full nut and bolt job.
Keep up the good work wish I lived in SA seems like a lot of awesome vans!

coming along nicely.. i hope it is ready for jaffs cruise.. i had a mate that years ago had a blow through setup on a 1600 in a mk2 cortina, it made around 100rwkw with 13psi, and was a very fun car. on a side note is that an escort fan and thermo in the background?

Yep, there is a few little extras/mods that he hasnt showed yous yet . It will be an awesome, tidy, well built, fun machine when he's done. I reckon focus on motor, finish guard and paint in primer and leave the rest of the body work till after jafs ;)

i have been out in the shed as much as possible over the last week. engine is back together and painted without any dramas. finished the alternator mount and put the engine in. i went to rotate the engine to TDC to install the dizzi when it locked up on some thing solid. id had the engine rotating freely on the engine stand before installation. the last thing i put on the engine was the sump. the bung id welded in goes into the sump about 5mm and is welded on both sides. a rod cap bolt was fouling on a part of the weld. if it had been 3mm to the front it would have cleared. after a clearance path was ground through the weld, no more issues. gonna push hard to get it running by the end of next weekend.
