Mk1 Escort Radiator Help!

Hello,

Me and my dad are currently doing up an mk1 escort. It has the 2l pinto put into it. We have been advised by our mechanic that it needs a new radiator, We have no idea on what one we should use for the car or where to get one made. I believe the care currently has the 1300xl radiator in it atm. Any ideas i live near brisbane?

I believe that in order to get a 2l radiator in there you need to modify or replace the radiator support panels.
As far as I am aware mk1 & 2 radiators are the same.
    Hope that helps a little

You'll need a rad from 2L mk2. Best to get it looked at by Valley Radiator Services (very good guys and cheap!) then get some brackets off a 1600 radiator, mount them in reverse onto the 2L rad. Valley Radiator services did this for me about 12 months ago so he'll know exactly what you're asking for :)

Biggest job is welding in the angle section below the radiator, these panels are readily available. The top lip can simply be measured, marked & trimmed if need be, then tapped back. Keep the gap as small as possible to ensure air flows through the rad core, not over the top through the gap!
