info

just after some info on what is needed to fit and run a ca18det in a mk2 cortina, also looking at running coilovers in the rear end any advice would be sweet cheers

    CA18 will go on without too much trouble as they are front sump like the cortina. When you say coilovers in the rear I presume you mean to 4 link the rear while doing so?  You will have to adapt an escort kit. There are quite a few running ca's now.  Have a qick google search,  Will probably bring you to mk1 cortina . com.  Plenty of pics and info there.
    You will need custom engine mounts. Remove the inner strengthners on the cortina shell.  Custom gearbox mounts. Cstom tail shaft.  Need to run hi psi fuel lines, and pump, need a return in the tank or t to the filler. Cooler needs mounts, and space to run pipework.

    cheers mate yea the 4link, when you say remove the inner strengthners are you talking about the half box channel the runs down the firewall and under the front floor pans or? why do i remove them and do i beef it up with bigger stuff?

    When you look under the tunnel, you can see the 2 ribs that extend down to where the mounts are. They take up a lot of room and will need to go.  I have left them out as I run my gearbox mouns across to the chassis.  
    If you are going for rego and or engineering, consult one first.
     
    Easiest way is to lower the CA and box in and cut out the bits that dont fit. :)

    cheers mate yea i will have a good look, i cant create a account on there tho as you have to pay to have a account but ill have a good look and see if i can find something cheers
