fitment of easyfit headlight protectors, mk2 square headlights

hi, could someone tell me how to properly fit these easy fit mk2 square headlight protectors
 
ive just bought them of ebay came with the original box but were no instructions and no screws
 
it seems like i have to cut the bottom lip of the grille to make them sit flat
