Legality of ADR approved 4 point harness in Mk1 Escort in Victoria

Hi All,

Not sure if ICE is the right place for this, but I have a Mk1 Escort which I am in the process of installing some aftermarket ADR approved seats which have holes in the top for a harness. Now I know it is illegal in Victoria to replace retractable seat belts with non retractable seat belts due to ADR compliance, but my Mk1 Escort does not have the requirement to meet the ADR for retractable seat belts, and as it's registered as a 2 seater, I would like to know if replacing the original, very tired, non retractable seats belts which I currently have installed in the car with ADR approved 4 point harnesses is llegal or not. If not, then it begs the question as to under what circumstances would ADR compliant 4 point harnesses ever be legal in any car.

Anyone know or has done this?

Thanks.

Given the fact that your car is pre the requirement for retractible seat belts there should not be an issue provided they are mounted correctly

    Make it go FASTER!

    Thanks Gdub,

My way of thinking is the same as yours but I'm hoping someone has a more definitive answer.

    Thanks.
