Seatbelt Bolt Thread for MK1 Escort

Does anybody know the thread size?
Mine is a late model MK 1 and I am not sure if the seat belts are metric or imperial thread
Its just I have run a tap through one as its messing up the thread when I put in the bolt.

    Seatbelt bolt sizes are one of those few things which should be standard across all cars. Size should be SAE 7/16-20. Mk 2 Escort should be the same, as should a 93 Ford Laser or 2007 Kia Sorrento.

    Yes I found out they are all standard
    They refer to the thread fitting as 7/16 UNF - (fine thread)
